gorgeous ALternative for engagement rings

So you're thinking about the kind of engagement ring you'd like to have -or offer - and you feel that diamond is a little too classic. You'd like more color, but the prices of decent size and quality diamonds are making your head spin...

You are now considering other types of gemstones, but you are concerned about durability. After all, you wish your engagement ring to be passed down for generations, and DeBeers said that only diamonds are eternal...

Well the good news is that sapphire is a great alternative to diamond for an engagement ring.

Sapphire is extremely hard -the third hardest of all gemstones actually - so it will be both durable and scratch resistant. Then there's the fantastic array of colors and hues available. From deep Kashmir blue to light cornflower. Bright or soft pinks. Or my personal favorites: teals, greens and bluish greens.

Here is a selection of rings in a variety of styles ranging from vintage - with some Art Deco and Edwardian pieces - to very modern with Pomellato's fun rock candy sapphires.
